Work..is it all that matters to you? My story-Part 1

I had never been told by my parents that certain forms of 'work' were not for girls or women. Infact, I had done most of the chores boys usually do around the house-like changing bulbs, painting, minor electical repairs, shopping, paying bills, running errands etc.
To many of you, this may seem normal, but, I was brought up in a small town where 6 p.m. was curfew time in college, half the 'Nagar' or locality seemed like an extended family and girls in the neighbourhood knew which new dress I wore on which day to college😅.
In a town like Bhubaneswar, most girls were to 'have' a 'degree',i.e. to be a graduate atleast. This rendered them suitable for marriage!
The other lot included girls like me,who studied for the love of it. Graduation-the degree gave me a solid foundation for my future. We had very good teachers, but,I would have loved to study in LSR or DU. I made a promise to myself to get what's best in the next phase-Post graduation. Graduation in Sociology woukd be great in my college itself,we had 2 of the best professors in the state.

“I hate to hear you talk about all women as if they were fine ladies instead of rational creatures. None of us want to be in calm waters all our lives.” - Jane Austen, Persuasion
Why shed a tear for one not worth the salt? Anxious for one not worth a halt? Took my heart out Ripped it to shreds. I Wiped it with tears Tied it with threads Am not alone Sad and forlone Look at my life It's talking to me Singing a song As my spirit flows free.

I knew you were trouble

I think... I think when it's all over it just comes back in flashes, you know? It's like a kaleidoscope of memories, it just all comes back. But he never does. I think part of me knew the second I saw him that this would happen. It's not really anything he said or anything he did, it was the feeling that came along with it. And the crazy thing is I don't know if I'm ever gonna feel that way again, but I don't know if I should. I knew his world moved too fast and burned too bright, but I just thought, how can the devil be pulling you toward someone who looks so much like an angel when he smiles at you? Maybe he knew that when he saw me. I guess I just lost my balance. I think that the worst part of it all wasn't losing him, it was losing me.
